Coronavirus Scare and Faith

Encouraging-quotes

This is a page to go down in history in so many ways. The current Covid-19 coronavirus scare has people in an almost panic state at this time. If you’ve visited your local grocers or bulk store then you’ve most likely seen empty shelves where toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, vitamins, bread, milk, and many other food items once resided. This is a time where a pandemic has been declared. This virus is spreading every single day. There are quarantine camps set up. It hasn’t only hit the USA, but all over the world. Travel has been canceled for most. Businesses are closing or sending workers home to work. Schools are shutting down. Churches are canceling services. Community projects are being postponed. People are told to pay extra attention to cleanliness and sanitation to help stop the spread. To keep their systems up with lots of Vitamins and minerals to stay healthy so that they are not hit by the virus, or if it should hit, so that they may have a higher survival rate.

Is this all a very scary time in our history? Of course, it is. According to the CDC estimates so far this season there have been at least 36 million flu illnesses, 370,000 hospitalizations and 22,000 deaths from flu. Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said that the United States could have 70 million to 150 million coronavirus cases. Dr. Lawler’s (an infectious diseases specialist and public health expert at the University of Nebraska Medical Center) calculations suggested 480,000 deaths, which he said was conservative. Hospitals will not have enough room potentially to hold all of the patients. There could not be enough staff to service all patients. There could not be enough ventilators for all of the patients.

The most lethal pandemic to hit the United States was the 1918 Spanish flu, which was responsible for about 675,000 American deaths, according to estimates cited by the C.D.C.The Institute for Disease Modeling calculated that the new coronavirus is roughly equally transmissible as the 1918 flu, and just slightly less clinically severe, and it is higher in both transmissibility and severity compared with all other flu viruses in the past century. Hearing all of this and seeing people resort to being more shut up in their homes is scary. It is something that one wouldn’t expect to see in their lifetime. People normally go about the business of their daily lives with their daily issues not thinking about something so vastly devastating as a pandemic. Many families are separated during this ordeal from loved ones. There are two things that I pray people would take into consideration during this time. The first is that, though separated and retreating to the solidarity of our homes, it does not mean that we can’t come together in fellowship and pray hard for those affected or to become affected. I see many making jokes on social media and making light of the situation, especially if it hasn’t hit their home yet. Sometimes we do have to use humor to get through a situation but my friends, prayer is so much more useful. This is no joke. This is a time to form our own army of prayer warriors. Two is that It has been said for some time now that we were at the end of times. I don’t know as no one does if this is true. Each of our lives could be snuffed at any point in time without warning. Whether it is or is not the end times is irrelevant in the fact that we are being nudged in a severe way to unite. Now is the time to repent our sins. To come from a place of pure heart and pray for each other, our world, and be thankful for the blessings that we do have. There is no better time than the present to right your wrongs, ask for forgiveness of your sins, and turn a new leaf. This virus may or may not hit you, but at the rate that is predicted of it’s spread, it is likely to hit at least a loved one, or someone you know. Keep the faith and may your troubles be lighter in these times with God’s help.

Here are a few Bible verses…Let’s stop Satan in his tracks and take a stand.

Ephesians 6: 11-13

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Proverbs 3: 5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalm 34:17

17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.

Chronicles 16:11

Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!
